“At P&DG project successes are rarely secured by just one person. They are achieved by a team of people who I believe are trying to look out for both each other and our client’s needs.”
I am a Town Planner and Urban Designer. Since 1993 I have been a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). My interest in both planning and design was really awoken while studying A’ Level Geography at college (many years ago) I was tasked with designing a town along with all the complexities that entailed, it was a process I thoroughly enjoyed and my work suitably impressed the lecturer and she suggested I should investigate Planning as a career.
I graduated with my first degree in Urban Planning from the University of Westminster in 1993 and, since then I have been involved constantly with planning and urban design. At that time opportunities in planning had been in short supply, I was fortunate to finish full time University education on Friday and started work at Ealing Borough Council in the planning department on Monday. I have been an owning Director of AMA until its sale in 2009, Head of Planning and Development for Capita and since its formation in 2012, the Managing Director of P&DG.
I have worked on, and project managed significant public and private sector projects across the UK with focus on the Midlands, East of England and London. These projects have ranged from significant schemes such as a new military base at Colchester, various expanded or new hospitals, schools, retail parks, heritage schemes, new settlements and urban extensions. Working within a team at P&DG, I would describe my role as ‘lighting the torch paper’ and inspiring and leading the team forward with ideas and strategies for clients, challenging process and help in stimulating strong commercial results.
Since 2006 I have been a post graduate level guest lecturer at Loughborough University in the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering. In addition, myself and other members of the P&DG team guest lecture at other Universities including University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and the University of Westminster.
Keep up to date with changes to the planning system plus our case studies, news & events.
