The retail industry seems to continually be going through changes, P&DG can provide guidance and insight into opportunities within planning, look at assisting in creating flexibility of permissions and simple ad hoc advice as required.

Whilst many Main Town Centre Uses are categorised in Use Class E, establishing new permitted development rights, Retail and Commercial development often still requires a Sequential Assessment and / or a Retail Impact Test.

This is not only the case for new development, but Retail Sequential and Impact Assessments can be required to justify the loss of retail uses from centres and traditional core retail areas.

P&DG has the experience to advise from the outset of a project what will be required, the case that can be made to justify either the loss or promotion or new floorspace and also the implications, if any, of the Use Class E and permitted changes of use.

We can undertake and prepare required Assessments, including Household Surveys and detailed Trade Draw Assessments, work with and negotiate with the Local Authority to gain the right consent.

Senior team members have significant experience in all areas surrounding retail planning.
