Acting on behalf of our client Pendragon, we advised on the planning potential of land at the Edwalton strategic growth site at Melton Road.

Client: Pendragon PLC

Size: 2 hectares

LPA: Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottinghamshire

Expertise: Project Management and Coordination, Retail, Urban Design

The site had been granted consent for a Waitrose supermarket, but had gone back to market. Pendragon were keen to relocate the Nottingham Porsche dealership onto the land. While the site was not allocated for such uses, we were able to demonstrate to the Council that the use was appropriate in context and would provide wider economic and job benefits to the area.

Not all of the site was required for the dealership and we advised the client that the ‘spare’ land could provide a suitable opportunity for a care home and local retail scheme, adding significant additional value to the site overall.

Following our advice the client purchased the site and we were instructed to collate and project manage a hybrid planning application including a full application for the new Porsche dealership – the first of its kind outside of Santa Barbara – and an outline application for a 70 bed care home and local retail facilities.

The application was granted in August 2020.
