Placemaking is the process through which we work together to shape the vision of our public spaces and built environments. It involves the planning, design and management of shared use spaces. More than just designing spaces, placemaking brings together diverse stakeholders (including professionals, elected members, residents, and businesses) to improve a community’s cultural, economic, social, ecological and environmental framework. Placemaking is community focused, with the goal of creating places which local people can identify with, enjoy and encourage a sense of civic pride and ownership.

Creating new built environments that have a strong community identity and are fully integrated with the local context is at the heart of the placemaking process. P&DG has an experienced team of planners and urban designers with a proven track record of producing a wide range of masterplans, heritage proposals and development layouts that are urban design and placemaking led.

Our expertise provides a bespoke service that delivers practical placemaking, creating good design and planning solutions that are enhanced by community support. Our design objective is creating quality and unique built character developments that have a ‘sense of place’ and identity that is reflective of the current design policy.
