Conservation Areas exist to manage and protect the special and unique features of architecture resulting in a place becoming of historic interest. Every local authority in England contains at least one Conservation Area, meaning any proposals are required to justify design which is in keeping with the character of this designation.

Understanding conservation area context, physical quality, detailing, management and legislative background is important to safeguarding and securing our built heritage. The P&DG team has involvement in heritage planning legislation, physical, contextual, environmental design and social historical aspects of conservation areas. We have a proven track record of planning and design success working in a conservation area.
